Named after Princess Kaguya from the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, the starport is the main hub of space transportation on Heinlein. After travellers arrive at their destination at the Challenger Planetoid, they must be transported by the Challenger Memorial Ferry or other transport ships to the Starport. Functioning much like an airport, the starport is busy at all hours of the day, ferrying both passengers and goods to their destination. The Heinlein Authority does its best to monitor the activity here but often there are many chartered flights by megacorporations that bypass their procedures. Flights often take passengers to the Challenger Planetoid with the occasional flight to BosWash, Mumbad, and Neo Tokyo.
Thanks to the prosperity of Luna, Starport Kaguya is a fully realized complex that outsizes even some settlements. Upon arrival, travellers are greeted by holo-advertisements in multiple languages highlighting Luna's tourist attractions. There are a few hotels within a short distance from the terminal, such as the Hilton Bamboo Inn. The Starscape Shopping complex begins underground made up of several levels of stores. Finally, there are some lunar resorts attached to some hotels that provide an uninterrupted view of the stars, daily entertainment and optional excursions on the lunar surface. Needless to say, Starport Kaguya is a major centre of commerce with enough offers that guests may never need to leave the premises. Chartered hopper buses can take visitors to the Earthride Hotel and the Tranquility Home Museum.
There are several signs discouraging visitors from taking advantage of the lack of gravity, citing multiple safety reasons, as well as other safety tips. Needless to say, the locals still put up with incidents that could have been avoided despite the warning. There are a few bioroids on standby to aid visitors as they arrive.
Hilton Bamboo Inn
The Hilton Bamboo Inn isn't too far from the Starport itself, providing mid-class accommodations at a reasonable price. However, the accommodations are cramped here by Earth standards and the offering at the hotel is minimal with a continental breakfast provided every morning that should barely meet the needs of any diet. The hotel features a furnished lobby with an assortment of holographic screens showing news all around Earth. Some of the locals have been known to use this space to loiter and utilize the free Network connection to information beam back to Earth.
Starscape Shopping Complex
The Starscape Shopping Complex is perhaps the first thing visitors will see once visitors leave the terminal. Built with tourism in mind, the complex features several levels of shopping beneath the Starport with name-brand department stores and quaint boutiques. The mall features a miniature transit system to take shoppers to its spiraling levels underground. Souvenirs and other gaudy items are often pushed to the forefront of many stores with more conventional items found inside. MegaBuy has a large presence here with a department store spanning as many levels as found in the shopping complex.
Earth Dreams
One of the many stores located in the Starscape Shopping Complex, Earth Dreams is a novelty store that caters to souvenirs from Earth. The large store is constantly filled with the ambiance of the rainforest with the sound of rain and birds chirping appearing on its constant loop. Its walls are each projected with imagery that matches the ambiance, focusing on idealistic scenery with overhanging cloud fabrications. Some of the items in the store include jars of soil from many places on Earth, woodcraft paperweights, overpriced bottled spring water, and powerful bold perfumes. The store is an assault to the senses for any first-time visitors but this store has become immensely popular by both curious Loonies and homesick Earthers.
