There was a lot of potential and promise in the former Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil. Unfortunately, it never lived up to its intended vision.

Situated atop of an old Ecuadorian metropolis, Guayaquil began with a lot of promise as the Weyland Consortium and the US government invested a lot of money into the district. Potentially, this was meant to assuage the concern of the locals who remained in New Angeles. This seems obvious with its great abundance of acology structures, skyscrapers and commercial centres. Ultimately, the affluent and megacorporation interests turned elsewhere in New Angeles and left the district in decay as development came to a halt. Today, Guayaquil is known for its slums, large amounts of disenfrancistos and crime. Unfortunately, the local police contend with a heavy orgcrime and street gang presence here, only using their authority as little as possible out of fear of reprisal.

Antiguo Guayaquil, Nuevo Guayaquil and the Waterways are found here.

Pablo's Corner
A food stand some streets away from the Jack Weyland Arcology, Pablo runs an outdoor food counter where he serves generous portions of fried food at near cost. Many people flock to his food stand, some even depend on it, and there's often a long line. The food isn't exactly healthy, often serving everything with a large batch of fries, nor will earn the attention of any foodie. By request, Pablo will cobble up some traditional ceviche or empanadas from his grandmother's recipe. This is clearly a labour of love for Pablo and he continues to serve the neighbourhood after twenty years. The gangs often keep their trouble away from his lot.

San Miguel Catholic Church
This traditional Catholic Church was built a few decades ago, making this one of the newer buildings in the district. During its construction, the church found itself with a host of financial and political issues which continue to this day. The church attempts to combine traditional aesthetics with modern features such as large holographic screens to project their values, something that was much of a money sink and forced the church to change contractor multiple times until its eventual completion. In addition to financial issues, it also finds itself at odds in between the multi-religious alliance of the Order of Sol and the invasive Starlight Crusade. Despite all of its issues, it consistently holds service and even attracts rich patrons from other districts.

Jack Weyland Arcology
Perhaps one of the greatest monuments to promises that fell below expectation is the Jack Weyland Arcology. Still owned and operated by the Weyland Consortium, it manages to achieve its purpose partially as one of the first arcoplexes in the city. On the 70th floor and above, the JWA hosts expensive apartments, corporate offices, and luxurious hotels. There are several plazas here that feature expensive shops selling boutique items that would be typically found in Rutherford. Most of the residents at this level come and go by hopper, avoiding the need to go below and potentially mingle with less well-to-do residents. Everything below the 70th floor is in decay but there is an ongoing effort in the renovation as the arcology attempts to gentrify its own foundation. It is said that mercenary outfits patrol parts of the arcology to ensure this class divide is strictly maintained.

Serenity Urban Park
Proceeding the park, the massive Cheezzo Chips factory grounds had been abandoned and became a refuge for crime and many of the city's unregistered inhabitants. One of Alice's Delgado's first actions in office was to have the factory cleared and a park to be built in its place. Thanks to contracts awarded to the Weyland Consortium, the park was fast-tracked to be built in a very short amount of time. The park has only recently opened to the public. The park grounds are paved with plascrete with several trees scattered throughout. Some of the features also include tables for chess/checkers, an outdoor gym, a boarding arena, and a splash pad. Overall, the park had been well-received by the locals. It is hard to miss the vast amount of hostile infrastructure the park is built with, however. Being one of the mayor's prized projects, the park does see an abnormally high number of police patrols.
